Introduction

Welcome and thank you for visiting my online collection of oil paintings .I am a leisure/hobby painter living in Bristol England and have been painting since 2002. I am entirely self taught and have no formal qualifications. I only produce original paintings in oil on canvas or panels , ready to be hung. Paintings are displayed here according to subject and older paintings have been omitted to make the site compact.

I am particularly interested in painting portraits and I thank friends and family who have been brave enough to allow me to paint them . Included here are paintings of famous people painted for fun. I enjoy painting portraits on a commission basis and some are displayed on this web site with their owners permission .

I use the traditional technique of imprimatura or “under painting” of layers of paint to establish tones and shadows. This under painting becomes the foundation on which the painting is built up , adding colour in glazes. The technique is slow as each layer of paint has to be completely dry before the next one is applied. The result, however, is a richness to the colour and real depth to the shadows.

I am now able to offer portraits painted from photographs sent via e-mail. These are unique works of art interpreted in my style .Painted in oil on canvas and framed if required.
